For this issue we interviewed the lovely Claudine Hope. Mother and fiancée to Joe Power, the well-known Liverpool Medium, Claudine has a background in show business and currently works on the other side of the camera as a television and theatre producer. She was Executive Producer on the American hit television show “Spirit of John Lennon” which featured Joe Power.
Claudine is a Director of the new Six Sense Academy which was launched in Liverpool and has branches in Spain and Ireland. Claudine has great plans to move the kind of Spiritual training the Academy provides into every possible corner of the world. She works very closely with Sharon Barr, Silent Voices Editor, and together they are developing and presenting Spiritual work and training throughout the UK and abroad.
She is also passionate about charity work and is currently occupying herself setting up an event to raise money for the Keith Bennett Appeal. This charity has been set up not just to raise money to find the body of the only missing Moors Murder victim, but also to continue to find the bodies of other missing persons and hopefully bring the comfort and peace to their families that Winnie Johnson, mother of Keith Bennett, has never had.
Claudine, can you tell us a little about yourself and your background
I come from a background of theatre and Television. From the age of 3 years old I was addicted to ballet, tap and modern jazz and it was all I wanted to do. Having famous Godparents really helped as my God mother is Gemma Craven, a well known West End theatre and TV actress and my Godfather is Frazer Hines who played Joe Sugden in "Emmerdale Farm".
After studying at a professional stage school for 7 years I launched myself into the world of show business. At the age of 18 I found myself as a professional dancer on a cruise ship and it was here that I really found my voice and the need to sing. I have worked with many well known celebrates both in Theatre and TV as a dancer, singer and actress. I played some wonderful characters from the Fairy Godmother in Pantomimes to having fantastic parts in the television program "The Bill" on ITV. Theatre was always very close to my heart and I was fortunate enough appear in the hit West End show "42nd Street". I have toured in theatre musicals around the UK, Germany, Spain, Greece, Belgium and France and met some pretty cool people.
I have some wonderful friends still in the business such as Rock Legend David Essex and his beautiful wife and close friend of mine Susan who is a wonderful actress and stars in many hit West End shows. I have rubbed shoulders with some of the great classic comedians and had the honour of working with some very gifted producers and directors.
I now enjoy being on the other side of the camera working as a producer in both theatre and Television. I was very proud to be asked to be Executive Producer, working in Hollywood on the American hit TV show "Spirit of John Lennon” with Joe Power. The entertainment industry is in my blood, I love it.
Can you tell us how you found yourself working in the Spiritual field?
I have always been fascinated by psychics and mediums as my Auntie Rosie does readings for friends and for her local spiritual church. I would always ask her to tell me things when I was younger because it really intrigued me.
I wasn't until 2004 when I realised the importance of Spiritualism. I had turned 30 in the February (oops now everyone knows my age) and in the April I was visiting my mum in Hospital. Mum has been poorly for years with Leukaemia, brittle bones disease, and chest problems, even so she was the strongest women I have ever met and never moaned about being ill. It was during a visit to my mum in her room she started saying to me "Claud, look at the angels, look, they are so pretty, look at them dancing around the bed." I felt really scared and didn’t understand. Sadly Mum passed away a few hours later and most of me died with her, yet in her passing she had created a whole new beginning for me.
A year before I had booked on a spiritual course in a centre in Wales to see if I could have psychic ability, and the course dates turned out to be just 2 months after Mum died. I didn’t want to go because I was scared and thought I wouldn’t handle it so soon after Mum’s passing, but I went and it was the best thing I ever did.
I met some wonderful people. The course was crazy and wonderful and spooky, and after hours of exercises and mediation I saw my mum, she was there and I wept liked a baby with happy sad tears. I concluded that the gift of mediuship was something that I had been blessed with. It was also the day I met my fiancé Joe Power; a Psychic Medium from Liverpool who has the most amazing gift and is unbelievably accurate. It was while seeing him Demonstrating Mediumship that I knew I could manage him and get him into theatre and TV. However, I landed up crossing the ‘management’ line and providing Joe with two lovely children, Louis who is 2 ½ and Lexie who is 1.
It seems an unusual step from your past into this future, what made you take this step and why do you feel that the work is important.
I feel that people deserve good training in order to present Mediumship in a strong and professional manner. There is a lot of good training in the UK, but sometimes people don’t want to have to join a religion or an organisation. We also concluded that many of the organisations providing training are specific; you go to learn to be a Psychic Medium, or a Tarot Reader or Healer. We wanted to provide eclectic training that would allow people to sample a number of different Spiritual disciplines and make their own decision.
When it comes to Joe, after many unsatisfactory Readings with Psychics and Mediums I knew that he had an amazing gift that I knew had to be shared. He could do so much for people, that I dedicated my time to his work. It was Joe that wanted to start SixSense Academy in order to reach out to people and share what he had learnt over time.
I believe that Mediumship and spirituality has changed over the years and there is more demand for proof and evidence. Long gone are the old ways of Mediumship and in its place there is a new modern technique of communication and blending with spirit. This is the reason Joe, Sharon and I set up SixSense Academy. At the Academy this is what you get, modern mediumship techniques with new twist of development exercises, both theory and practical. Students who come will not be disappointed and they will learn a lot about Mediumship and Spiritual Development. The Academy specialises in and promotes the highest standards of Mediumship and Spiritual work.
When Did You Start the Academy and How is it Developing?
The Academy of Spiritual Education was born in 2010 at the Leasowe Castle in Merseyside. The tutors are some of the best teachers in the world and it has taken a long time to find the right people to represent the Academy. We are always on the lookout for new tutors who have something unique and different to offer but we have very strong ideas on what we want to teach and how to teach.
It was important to Joe, Sharon and I that we take the Academy with its new ways of mediumship to other areas of the country as we understand that not everyone can travel and although all of our Academies have accommodation for people to stay over not everyone can do so. With this in mind we opened up branches in Spain and Ireland and we are looking to open one in the south of England and on in Hollywood, USA.
What kind of course's does SixSense Academy offer and who are the Tutors?
You name it! Our speciality is Mediumship development from beginners to advanced students. We also train people in ghost hunting and psychic detective work, and we have tutors in Reiki and Yoga.
We are currently building the SixSense Academy tutors, we have had many people interested in being a SixSense Tutor and we are still going through applications.
We have a fantastic team so far, the faces of SixSense are: Head Tutor International TV Medium and Director Joe Power; international Medium, Inspirational Speaker, writer and life coach Deb Hawken; international Best Selling Author, healer and angel expert Chrissie Astell; Ex police officer Dave Laraman MBE; World renowned Angel channel & Soul Expert Joylina Goodings; the UK's leading Aura Photographer and Live Consultant Nina Hall; International Healer Nicky Whitaker and we have just taken on our first Spanish Tutor, Angel Card tutor & TV presenter Laura Penn.
You have a week’s course in Ireland in July with 3 tutors, can you tell us more
The SixSense Academy is proud to launch their first week long course in Mediumship, Angel communication, Meditation, Trance Mediumship, psychic development, and spiritual healing.
At the Academy we have three levels of tuition for groups of students: beginners, intermediate and advanced. Our tutors have specifically designed the course modules to provide for each level of development, whilst still allowing the flexibility to engage each individual student. Everyone should feel completely comfortable to attend these courses, knowing that their abilities will be provided for and encouraged whether they are a complete beginner or working Psychic and/or Medium.
The week long course is going to be totally amazing. We have 3 tutors in this week, Joe Power, Deb Hawken and Chrissie Astell, and students will get to work with all three tutors. The course titles are “Mediumship with a Different Dimension”, “Spirit in the Real World” and “Introduction to Working with Angels and Archangels.”
At the Academy in Ireland we have apartments for the students to stay in and our own shuttle bus that take students into the Academy each day and collects them at night. The course is full board and in the evenings there will be Demonstrations and other entertainments. We intend it to be a spiritual holiday of learning and fun.
People may be worried about coming on a course for the first time; do you cater for complete beginners?
Absolutely, we have tutors who specialise in teaching Beginners; Deb Hawken in particular has a real passion for teaching beginners and getting them started ‘on the right foot’ so to speak.
Chrissie is used to introducing people to the idea of the presence of Angels and Archangels in our lives, and how to communicate with those marvellous beings.
Although Joe mainly works with intermediate and advanced students, he obviously remembers exactly how it feels to be a complete beginner, so no one needs worry. Even if students feel that they’re struggling we are more than ready to cope with that and help them to build all the confidence they need.
How can people book a course with you?
Go online now! www.sixsenseacademy.com
The Academy website has all the information you need to choose the course for you and the location that tickles your fancy, weather the beautiful historic 500 year old castle in Merseyside, our beautiful fifteenth century monastery in Spain where monks still live to this day, or our modern architectural building at the University Concert Hall in Limerick Ireland every Academy has been chosen for the venue and surroundings it has to offer and they all provide full-board accommodation.
Is charity work an important part of your agenda?
Absolutely. Joe has done so much work for charities where he has given up his own time and money to help families of missing people and families of murdered victims. We both feel it so important to help each other and for people to stick together instead of fighting and making enemies.
In your view what would you say are the positives and negatives of the increased media exposure to spiritualism in general, and do you think the media portray the correct message and knowledge?
Working with the Media is always a judgement call and you have to be prepared to take the rough with the smooth.
The positives are that Media exposure helps to broaden the appeal of the message that there is life after death, and reach people who might not go to a Spiritualist Church or Centre, or for a private reading. However, we all know that the media tend to edit and change things to get a good story rather than stick to the facts. Some television companies pander to the cynics who want to believe that there is no life after death because that makes better television.
Any Medium who tangles with television and the media has to be prepared to take the knocks in order to further the greater good, and I can honestly say that Joe and I, amongst others, have taken those knocks and we can only hope that some good has come of it. At the end of the day it is worth the unpleasantness if we can encourage more people to come and see what they think of Mediumship and decide for themselves how they feel about it.
Obviously feeling that you’ve been lied about is extremely hurtful, but at the end of the day if we can bring hope and healing to more people then any knocks we take are more than worthwhile.
Claudine, it has been special to talk to someone who isn’t a Spiritual worker themselves in order to get an external perspective on the work.
We want to thank you so much for this fascinating interview and encourage any would-be Psychic Mediums, Angel enquirers and Healers to go to the SixSense Academy Website and look at the wonderful courses you offer.
We would also appeal to anyone reading this to make as many people as possible aware of the Keith Bennett Appeal and the evening to raise money to help bring Keith home to his elderly mother and the rest of his family. They just want to know where he is and have him at rest somewhere other than a lonely windswept moor in the middle of nowhere. They want to be able to visit him and grieve properly once and for all. Please help with this wonderful appeal.
We wish the academy all possible good fortune in the future.
