My last tarot column with Silent voices looks at a full reading using the celtic cross spread. The reading was done for Jenny, a middle aged, independent business woman, who was thinking of branching out in a new direction with her business in 2011. Using just the Major Arcana, this is the reading that was given.
Position 1 – Present Circumstances - Chariot
Jenny chose the chariot, which shows her path dividing in two directions. The charioteer is trying to steer his chariot, but the two sphinx are pulling in different directions. Whatever the new venture is, it’s a departure for Jenny – something she hasn’t done before. However, I was very drawn to the stars on the canopy, and to me, this means the business will be a success. There is hard work involved, however – the chariot is made of stone, so it’s very heavy and hard to pull. There is also a connection with a large house, as I am drawn to the houses in the background.
Position 2 – Current Influences - Wheel of Fortune.
This is something which is almost “meant to be” – the card to me suggests an aspect of fate. Maybe Jenny has asked for help, and the spirit world have stepped in to provide inspiration and opportunity for this new endeavour. 10 is the number of completion and so I feel it’s time to start a new cycle – not necessarily give up on the old one, but add a new string to the bow. Whatever, this thing is, spirit world are guiding Jenny in the right direction!
Position 3 – Foundation – High Priestess.
Again, another Spiritual card. This new business must have an aspect of Spirituality, and it’s foundations are built on the solid ground of spiritual knowledge. This card represents someone Jenny knows who has lots of knowledge in the chosen area (which I feel has a spiritual connection) and who will be able to help a great deal.
Position 4 – Achievements – The Devil
Looking at the other cards surrounding it, the Devil in this position represents power. It is a card of success, triumph even, and of being the leader in the market. However, this card can warn of excess – this business is going to be very successful, as I don’t feel there is too much competition at the moment – but be careful, as power can bring corruption. Use your power wisely.
Position 5 – Recent Past – Judgement
Jenny has recently been taking stock. She has looked as her past achievements and is now being urged to let go of things which aren’t working and look towards the future. This card signifies renewal and change – another pointer that Jenny is taking a step in the right direction.
Position 6 – Near Future – The Magician
This is an excellent card for Jenny. It means that anything she puts her mind to now, will materialise in the future. The Magician has all the suits of the tarot laid out before him – any idea which is incepted now will manifest and become real. It is also an excellent card for entrepreneurial matters and as the Magician is a smooth-talker, any business which involves a sales pitch. The sky is the limit for Jenny’s new business !
Position 7 – the Querant – The Tower
This card represents the querant’s character and personality and again this points to a restructuring and re-thinking of Jenny’s life. Her old beliefs and structures are crumbling at the moment (which is true for a lot of people during this recession) and she is looking at rebuilding her business on solid foundations. She may have had an incident in her own life which has made her stop and think “life is too short”. Now is the time to move on and re-build your tower on much firmer foundations.
Position 8 – Environmental Factors – The Lovers
Jenny will not be in the business alone – there is a partnership which will be strong and both parties will be able to bring different aspects to the table. I feel this partnership is quite equal in terms of how much energy and skill is put into the business – although both work in very different ways. I am drawn to the Angel above the couple on this card, and again have the feeling that any decisions now are divinely guided.
Position 9 – Inner Emotions – The Star
Jenny is ambitious and this is very good, as it means she doesn’t place any restrictions on herself. The sky is the limit and she won’t stop until she is at the top of her game. I don’t feel Jenny is ruthless though – although remember the Devil card? Care must be taken to retain the softer side of Jenny’s character as her star begins to rise !
Position 10 – Final Outcome – The Sun
We finish with the best card in the deck, some would say. The sun is about dreams and wishes fulfilled, happiness, joy and harmony. This card promises light at the end of the tunnel and I am being drawn to the baby on the card – symbol of the new venture Jenny is about to start.
So overall, I feel that Jenny is about to branch out into a new area, with a business partner. This area is unfamiliar although there is some knowledge already there – but some still to be gleaned. I don’t see much opposition, so it could be a new idea that not many people are working with at the moment. This will be a good thing for Jenny as she will become a successful market leader. Jenny must let go of things that aren’t working for her and embrace the new exciting ideas which are coming in at the moment. They will be a big success.
Jenny says:
‘I am amazed how Sue has picked up on my new business idea. I can’t say too much, but it does have a spiritual aspect and I am working with a partner! I won’t give up the business I run at the moment, but I know there are some aspects of it which aren’t working. The bit about the Wheel of Fortune is spot on – the idea for the business almost fell into my lap and all sorts of weird coincidences are taking place around it, all the time! It’s good to know that it will be a success, and I will remember the warning about the devil card! Thanks Sue, awesome reading!
