Indigo Children are a group of people that are incarnating on earth bringing a wave of new consciousness and are very gifted in certain areas. They are here to help our world and change our knowledge on spirituality, science, and philosophy. The indigo children help us reach our full potential as beings and bestow on us love and wisdom. Although indigo children have many beautiful traits, they are also over confident, demanding, and rebellious. This makes it very hard for loved ones to teach and develop their indigo child. In writing this article, my hopes are to give more awareness about these unique children, let them know that they are not alone and there are more of them in the world. I hope reading this helps parents develop their indigo child and in turn help others.
The indigos are born with a purple aura and although this changes their natural colour always tends to remain that deep spiritual purple. These children are a group of people whose soul purpose is to bring psychological, scientific, and spiritual change to our world. They are children who are fearless and most know who they are inside. They are cocky, expectant and demanding. They are bright and intelligent, always thinking on ways to bring intelligence and wisdom to mankind.
I am considered an indigo child. Their confident attitude gives the impression they believe they deserve to be here and deserve what they get in life. Due to this they go through childhood feeling like royalty and in turn, they often act like it. They have difficulty dealing with authority in any way and hate being told what to do and why they should do it. Trust and respect is not easily given by an indigo child but has to be earned. This is often the case with their closest loved ones. This of course often leads to conflict during teenage years. They get frustrated easily if they are forced to live a mundane life to the extent they more often try to break out and rebel. They don’t respond well to people trying to make them feel guilty. They are never shy in letting you know what they want or need and they are always very strong willed. They often bore easily and have trouble with social structures. They struggle in school due to its social nature which often leads them to turn inward feeling misunderstood and different than other people. They are often old souls and express wisdom and integrity far beyond their years however they can be at times prone to emotional and aggressive outburst. They like to be independent and proud but stay close to people they care about often forming strong lasting friendships.
Why Now? As we move out of the age of Pisces and into the age of Aquarius, we need these wise souls to help us evolve. Indigo children have been incarnating on the Earth for the last 100 years. The early Indigos were pioneers and paved the way for the new children. After World War II, a significant number were born, and these are the Indigo adults of today. However, in the 1970s a major wave of Indigos was born, and so we have a whole generation of Indigos who are now in their late twenties and early thirties who are about to take their place as leaders in the world. Indigos continued to born up to about 2000, with increasing abilities and degrees of technological and creative sophistication. However, these successful balanced traits do not come alone.
An indigo child will have more uncomfortable experiences than the average child. They often suffer with insomnia, restless sleep, sometimes nightmares and even a dislike or fear of falling asleep. Often in school they will excel in certain areas and perform badly in others. Through this however most of the time they have a above average IQ and exceptional intuitive abilities. They are often psychic and mediumistic to a high degree and have such experiences during childhood. They begin to question the world from a very young age on the deepest levels. They want to know how everything works, why it works, and why it works that way. They often find themselves going so deep into their thoughts during childhood pondering the big questions in life. They find themselves becoming exceptionally frustrated when they have no support in moving things forward. They find it very hard to sit still unless they are indulging in something that interests them. They tend to be very compassionate and hold many fears including losing loved ones and fear of failing from an abnormally young age. They have a very spiritual nature apparent sometimes right from birth, however it can take some life experience for this to come forward. They can sometimes be prone to addictions. They often love anything that gives them an adrenaline rush and caffeine based products. They often find themselves quite restless in terms of their physical appearance. This often leads them to changing various aspects of their appearance including their hair colour and clothes. The choices an indigo child makes through his/her life will always be decided on what is good for the evolution of society. The strong negative traits listed above make it next to impossible to live with an indigo child.
On various levels sometimes even unconsciously they find it difficult to do certain tasks. This leads them to find they will not do certain things unless it’s unavoidable. An example of this would be queuing which is exceptionally difficult for them. Another example would be cleaning, particularly for somebody else. They don’t mind doing something if they are asked, but don’t like doing something if they are expected to conform and do it. Through all this though they often keep true to their very spiritual nature. This often grows with age and begins to blossom in their later teenage years. Some negative attributes as listed above can lead an indigo child into a state of depression. They often go back and forth being extremely down on their lives and themselves as a person into the opposite making them seem sometimes as being overly cocky confident and self appraising. Indigo children are often diagnosed as having ADHD or similar traits . I have nearly all of the traits above so you can be very sorry for my loved ones.
The first thing anyone should know on how to handle an indigo child is whatever you do don’t try to control them. This will straight away lead to them rebelling and not listen to whatever you are trying to convey to them. You have to try to get on their level and express thoughts and emotions in words and ways they can understand. It is important to be as open as possible with them and have them be as open as possible with you. Try to give them space to be and do as they wish and through this it helps to be good at reading between the lines on what the child says and how they act. You should then encourage them in all their endeavours no matter how spontaneous they may be. Listening is also very important do not tell them to be quiet or they will end up being very introverted. If you fail to do the above it will most likely hinder the child’s progress and make for turbulent and tough times in not just their relationship with you but their life in general. Most importantly it is necessary to encourage, encourage and encourage even more. Support is what an indigo child needs more than anything. If they have that support and encouragement in their early years it is likely that they will move forward to excel. This will often be what they most enjoy doing. Don’t expect them to settle for a mundane life or job. It is important you stick with them in any career ideas or ventures they may have. This may seem thus far that I am advising you to let them run wild, however, that is not the case. There needs to be a healthy balance of openness, and discipline.
Not many children respond well to discipline and indigos are no exception. Its important to give them respect and treat them like an adult when they are not as this will appeal to their nature. When disciplining them its good to give them choices about their punishment as this gives them less of a feeling of being controlled. It is good to punish them by giving them more responsibility as this will also appeal to the nature and help them progress forward in their lives. For example when a punishment is necessary, taking away a privilege will only add to the indigo’s demanding nature. Adding responsibility to the indigo’s routine will give them the values and discipline they need in order to survive in life. Punishments where the child has a choice of weeding the garden or cleaning the bathroom are good ways of disciplining. This will also bestow a respect to you from your indigo child. When respect is established between both you and your indigo child, it will be easier help them evolve into the soul he/she is supposed to fulfil for our world.
The purpose of an indigo child is ultimately to express love and wisdom. To help move things forward for the coming Aquarian age, an age of free thinking spirituality, soul growth, technological, and biological advancement by helping civilization move forward in both scientific and free thinking areas. The traits indigos have often lead them to end up being psychics or mediums, artists, musicians, counsellors, life coaches, scientists, and even politicians. I know there is this general consensus that there are not many good politicians however if they are an indigo child there will be a much larger chance of him/her being one of those good and honest politicians. The indigo children really do have a big part to play in our planets evolution. Should the responsibility of an indigo child not be fulfilled, they will be punished by karmic law once returned to the spirit world. They have a huge responsibility, however with the support and love from those surrounding them, they can bear a responsibility that will change our world.
In conclusion, its important that no matter what anybody says, the children that are the way they are. They are capable of great things and are not the tearaways they may seem in fact quite the opposite. They just need to be helped with support, respect, and love from parents, the indigo child will grow into a beautiful adult, changing the world and helping others evolve into their own soul. Although the poor qualities an indigo child portrays makes it hard for those around him/her, the good qualities will eventually take over, making an individual who is expressive, wise, intelligent and loving. These Indigo children are our gateway into the Aquarian age.
