The Book of Life By Nicky Marshall

In January of 2010 I started posting tips on Facebook. Most days I would sit down, tune in to the Universe and my guide and channel what came. I love what I do so I didn’t post a tip unless it was effortless, but most days something would flow.

At the time of writing this article I have posted 376 tips, had countless comments and have loved every minute of them. I have also learned so much from taking a step back from the hustle of life and tuning in to some higher guidance.

I would like to share this tip as I feel it’s quite poignant to the energy I have felt around me and my clients recently:
“Tip#372: However life is today, tomorrow will always be different. Each day we turn the page of our own personal book of life. What's gone before doesn't count anymore; mistakes don't exist unless we carry them forward. Happy memories can be leafed through at any time. The book of today is a blank sheet - how will you fill yours?”

I think that sometimes when we talk of our spiritual journey we can take it too seriously. I know when I started to get to know myself I spent a lot of time going back over past situations and realising that I had got it wrong. For periods of time I would carry guilt around with me and try to rectify mistakes, apologise to those concerned and sometimes be fearful of making that same mistake again.

Understanding can be a great gift and allow us to learn and grow. Making mistakes is an innate part of being a human being and also allows us to learn. For me personally, my attitude is changing slightly on the subject of ‘development’. Should we spend periods feeling guilty and fearful when living a spiritual life? Should we comb through every ‘bad’ period in our life sieving for grains of wrongdoing and error? On each new day’s page should we first list at the top the mistakes that we would like to remember?

Or should we treat every day as a new one and do our best to live a joy-filled, beautiful existence filled with experience? If today was the first day of your life and you had no memory of any past challenges could the world be an exciting playground filled with wonder? With no fear or guilt, our hearts would be full of love and our minds open to new opportunities. Our link to the Universe would be open and wide, so we could intuitively explore our world and life being guided by our spiritual helpers.

Perhaps we could even learn to love our human-ness and laugh at our mistakes, giggle at our bad moods and nurture our moments of fragility by taking some time off? When life is good perhaps we could take a picture in our minds and frame this moment of perfection?

Before you go to sleep tonight spend a few moments checking in with yourself. Search out those worrying thoughts or those angst-filled emotions and send them in a channel up to the Universe. Ask your guides and helpers to take them from you and for situations to heal or for new ones to appear. Feel any last tensions whooshing (yes, this is a word!) up away from you high into the sky, through the atmosphere and out into the beyond.

When you wake up in the morning, before thoughts of a cuppa fill your head welcome in this new and exciting day. Ask yourself what wonder and opportunities await you. Take three deep, invigorating breaths and feel every cell of your body coming alive. Today is a new day, a blank page in the book of your life and you choose the entries.

Ok, now you can go in search of caffeine!
