roman road

It was a cold dark and damp Friday October morning when a group of like minded individuals made their way to Manchester
Airport. They came from the North West of England, the Midlands and even as far as Canada. For all it would be a week
that they would remember forever. Some at the end even went so far as saying that it may have changed their lives forever.

Their destination... a Spiritual Retreat in Medina Sidonia, Spain.

Their Aim... to attune their energy levels to a higher vibrational level.

Medina Sidonia lies in the province of Cadiz in southern Spain. It has been called by some, one of the oldest cities in Europe used as a military defence due to its elevated location.

There has been a town at Medina Sidonia for over 3000 years. The Phoenicians were the first to leave some trace and the Roman town Asido Caesarina was constructed over the Phoenician settlements on top of Cerro del Castillo (Castle Hill) 300 meters above the surrounding plain: the hilltop location meant easier defence against invading armies.

The church Santa Maria la Mayor de la Coronada stands on top of the hill: after the Christian re-conquest in 1264 the mosque on the site was adapted into a Moorish style church.

The present church was built between 1500 and 1550 in a mix of Gothic and Moorish styles. (Although the bell tower was only completed in 1623)

The domes of the roof in particular show Moorish styling and structure.

The town also boasts many Roman ruins/excavations including 30 tunnels from the Roman period that served as a drainage
and sewer system. More recently, whilst digging out the foundations for a garage, the original Roman road was uncovered and
now you can visit a perfectly preserved section of it.
Its narrow cobbled streets and old world buildings have a timeless quality about them that transports you back hundreds of
years in the blink of an eye.

Their Mentors... Jackie Dennison-Koshnich and Steve Furlong

Many will already know Jackie Dennison-Koshnich from her TV show Rescue Mediums. Jackie also owns and runs Feathers Academy in Northwich, Cheshire where amongst other things, she teaches psychic development with her business partner, Steve Furlong.

Their Hosts... Gary and Kirsty Biston.

Gary and Kirsty are also no strangers to the silver screen. In (year) they were filmed by the BBC in a programme called (name) in which they renovated a derelict house or Casa in Medina Sidonia. It was to this Casa, Casa de Medina, that the group were headed.

Their Aim... to attune their energy levels to a higher vibrational level.
Attuning your energies to a higher vibrational level is a deeply spiritual enlightenment and psychic advancement, working with the higher energies. It would include daily
meditation working with spirit guides for energy clearance, chakra alignment, aura balance and enhancing clairvoyant abilities combined with practical exercises.

Some of the workshops would include a beach meditation, energy work within ancient pathways, spirit awareness within roman and Moorish ruins, and aura work that will include aura photography.

On arrival at Malaga it was obvious we had left the cold and wet of Manchester far behind us as it was a lovely sunny day with the temperature nudging 34 degrees. We were met by Gary and Steve. Gary produced from the boot of his car a welcome supply of cereal bars and bottles of water. This was to be a good omen as Gary, who is a trained chef, had thought of everything to make our stay such a memorable one.

After a short stop off at the vehicle hire compound near to the airport we were soon off on our 2 hour mini bus trip to our final destination. Heading south west out of
Malaga and onto the new motorway toll road which bypasses the holiday resorts of Torremolinos, Benalmadena and Marbella to name but a few on the Costa Del Sol we were soon passing Gibraltar and heading towards the beautiful and scenic hills of Andalucia.

Casa Medina certainly has the ‘wow’ factor and it is no wonder that literally hundreds of holiday makers including a well known British politician have in the past made Casa Medina their home from home whilst exploring this beautiful part of Spain which thankfully is still unspoilt and with no high rise hotels in sight.

After unpacking and freshening ourselves up our first job was to have our Aura photographs taken with a special camera designed and built in America which can measure and record by means of electrical readings your Aura field. As this was the first of a planned series of Retreats, Jackie and Steve were eager to record our Auras before any higher energy work was done and then to photograph them again at the end of the week.

Once done we settled down to the first of a series of fantastic meals cooked by our chef Gary. This really was an added bonus to the week and many of the ladies in the group were soon quizzing him for the recipes!

Saturday morning began with another exceptional local breakfast served by Maripaz who was our lovely housekeeper for the week. Maripaz put us all to shame as she tried out her English on us as most couldn’t speak Spanish. With the obvious exception of our newest member of the group who had travelled the relatively short distance from Gibraltar to join us.

After breakfast we began with a healing workshop. This included providing healing on a one to one basis whilst being recorded on the Aura camera. It was plain to see the healing flowing from the provider to the recipient. One of the group even stopped and started the energy flow without informing Jackie and Steve who were operating the camera. The change of colours on the picture were quite remarkable for all to see as the energy flow stopped and then resumed.

A free afternoon followed for those of the group that were interested in a little bit of exploring the town that is Medina Sidonia. This was followed by an evening meal out a local and authentic Andalucian restaurant organised by Kirsty and Gary.

Sunday morning we were off down to the beach at St. Peters (not sure if that was the name). Not to sunbathe but for our morning meditation. The afternoon was spent locally exploring the beach or shops. Sunday evening was another higher energy workshop at Casa Medina.

Monday morning was spent meditating on an original Roman Road. This had been found by accident a number of years earlier when a householder was digging some foundations for his garage. Needless to say the gentleman never got his garage. The energies on the road had to be experienced to be believed. Monday afternoon and evening was spent on a trip to Gibraltar.

Tuesday was spent on a full day trip to Tangiers in Morocco via a 35 minute ferry trip from nearby Tarifa. We arrived ‘before’ we set off. There might only be an 18 mile distance between the continents of Europe and Africa at this point but there was a 2 hour time difference. Seeing Tangiers reminded us all of Michael Palin’s TV programmes where he travelled the world.

Our meditation on Wednesday morning was spent inside a cave within Casa Medina. The date of this cave is unsure as it was part of a tunnel to and from the Church at the top of the hill. Jackie and Steve had previously sensed the cave was visited by a religious leader who had passed quite a long time previously.

night view

Wednesday night was spent doing our own Psychic Investigation at a nearby building that was under renovation. For many of us this was this first time we had experienced such an event at first hand. It was certainly one we wouldn’t forget in a hurry as several spirits made their presence felt. With the guidance and experience shown by Jackie and Steve we were able to help some cross into the light.

Our final workshop concerning our Auric field was held Thursday morning. This was followed by our final set of Aura photographs. Without exception everyone showed an increase in their psychic and spiritual awareness. The colours displayed in our photographs were there for all to see.

Thursday afternoon was another trip out. This time to the shops and Arabic baths at Jerez. A perfect location for some last minute souvenirs. Unfortunately Friday soon came around and we were back off home. Everyone agreed that Jackie, Steve, Kirsty and Gary had worked wonders combining a wonderful holiday and spiritual retreat into one package. There were many new friendships forged and memories that will last a lifetime.
