ARIES: 21st March - 20th April
You had best get ready – you’re heading into one of those months where things will change permanently in certain areas. The more December develops, the more pressure and intensity is going to form, at least in the short to medium term and into the New Year at least. This is likely to manifest in up to three main areas in your life, with the favourites being that of personal relationship pattern, home and family circumstances, and your professional situation. It would be easy to do the ‘headless chicken’, especially towards the end of the month when things may get uncomfortably fast for a week or so, and by doing so you could easily sacrifice months of hard work in the name of short term pressure release. It may actually be that the rest of the world is seeing you as stable enough to manage their problems – but note that in the middle of December, Uranus in Aries stops going retrograde and starts moving forward again, suggesting that your response patterning is likely to change and thus your reactions to situations at the start of the month are likely to be quite different by the end of December. Therefore – raw experience, not decision or permanent actions is what is implied here. Take it on the chin and not too personally – if the world trusts you enough to let rip on you for something that’s not that much to do with you, surely that’s a kind of inverse compliment?
TAURUS: 21st April - 21st May
So over this last year, you’ve had a relatively quiet time in many areas, but one or two specific situations have had to have a lot more attention and focus on them, especially in the way that you deal with others at the one to one level and the ways that you are dealt with by others as well. And over the last few months a number of different boundaries have been re-negotiated, some to your favour and others not. You will all be finding that your situations involving other(s) is very different now compared to where you were nine months ago, and that whilst the numbers of people in your life may have dropped somewhat, the deficit in number should be counterbalanced by the quality of those remaining, which should be of the highest standard. This month particularly may be seen as a time of reflection upon the address book, and at this time, quality wins over quantity every time. It is those of you born from the 8th to the 11th who are coming under the watchful and critical eye of Saturn this month, and your willingness to persevere dogmatically and not take short cuts is being tested now, particularly in the first few days of the month. This is a time where you have to be pragmatic as to the value that you put on certain people and their level of involvement in your life, and where necessary take action that redefines boundaries – male sure you get your priorities right.
GEMINI: 22nd May - 21st June
There’s a feel of Daniel going into the lion’s den about this month for you. A lot of the ‘big boys’ of astrology are not exactly gunning for you, but they are certainly not your friend in the short term. A blend of Pluto, Saturn and Jupiter with help from Neptune seems to be setting up ‘bear traps’, where you could easily and inadvertently step on other people’s toes, accidentally cross boundaries, or in some way or another innocuously arouse an element of challenge or even antagonism towards you. Therefore, be attentive to what you say and do and weigh up the possible consequences of your words and actions on others before jumping in head first. There are reserves available, should you choose to put up a fight against the almost inevitable urge to hide beneath the blankets for a month or so, but those reserves are not known for their subtlety. A mixture of Mercury and Mars will come riding to your rescue, bringing you at least the verbal and mental energy to hold your ground should you choose to engage – but really – why? Add to the pervasive and weighty feelings around you the fact that it’s the annual Gemini full Moon on the 17th of the month, again suggestive of closure and endings rather than new beginnings. Sometimes, you need to get rid of the old before the new can emerge, otherwise it will always have to negotiate old baggage, thus not getting off to a clean start.
CANCER: 22nd June - 22nd July
With Jupiter beginning his long retrograde trawl through the middle of Cancer and an ever growing number of planets in your opposite sign of Capricorn, a belligerent Mars not being your friend from Libra and Uranus sniggering at you from Aries, you’re likely to be in quite a prickly space this month. It would certainly be easier than normal for your sensitivities to be offended, and if that were to happen and you rose to the bait, your normal rules and boundaries would go out the window pretty fast and things would escalate rapidly. Remember that traditionally Jupiter likes being in Cancer, his growth and benevolence needs the background of a secure home and family environment to make sure his roots are firm enough for him to build upon, and going retrograde through the middle ten degrees of your sign is all about re-assessing. This is the beginning of a four month period where the developments of recent times will be evaluated for their degree of substance, a number of hot air balloons will pop and be found to be jus hot air, and it may be that one or two hopes or aspirations that are just that little too out of reach may have to go in the pending file for the short term. Best not overreach yourself at the moment, you’re in the path of some fairly heavy hitters and you need to keep some of your shields relatively high. Stand your ground, don’t push but neither be pushed.
LEO: 23rd July - 23rd August
December is a month that continues the recent trend of polarisation that seems to be happening in the majority of your charts. This is demonstrated on the one hand by the ongoing and unwelcome attentions of Saturn, who during December is especially concentrating his eye on those of you born from the 10th to the 13th of the month. There is certainly still a degree of limitation that is almost pervasively enduring in some area of your life that isn’t going to be solved any time soon, and can only be worked with by dogmatic and disciplined actions over a period of time. All very Saturnine, especially in the first week of the month where communications are not at their best. However, on the other hand Uranus and Mars, both dynamic and proactive, have your firmly in their sights as needful of stimulus, action and innovation in a way that brings people into your life and simply can’t be ignored. So on the one hand there’s the need for disciplined boundaries and hard work, and on the other the need for play and adventure. And somewhere in the middle, there you are, stuck between a rock and a hard place. On the one hand the answer is to be more disciplined about time management, getting more done in less time. On the other hand, it’s about revolutionising your limitations and beginning to think outside of the box in a way that mixes both change and order.
VIRGO: 24th August - 22nd September
The day by day influence of December is that of mild irritation and frustration at the slowness and drudgery of the outside world, whilst within you’re becoming ever more energised and impatient for things to happen. Over the whole month, a blend of Pluto, Jupiter, Saturn and Venus are shining favourably on you, suggesting that not too much is going to go wrong unless you really go out on a limb. Mars is staying in your sign until the 8th, so the first week of December is still likely to have in it a degree of activity and drive that is very much a carry-over from November. However, Mercury is doing you no favours during the majority of the month, and the period from the 5th to the 25th is likely to hold a slightly higher amount of communication challenge than normal, this being a time where your externally judgemental side or your internally critical side can be more easily recognised than normal, so you will have to watch out for being overly touchy about certain issues. This implies that the first eight days of the month are likely to hold a degree of physical action, followed by a two-three week period of holding tight to one’s position, and then during the last week of December a feeling of establishment beginning to emerge. This is not a month to bring fire and excitement into your life – it is more of a question of jockeying for position and keeping all of your senses about you.
Neither December’s full nor new Moon are challenging, with the new Moon on the 3rd working well with Uranus. The outer planets are ensconced in their ongoing patterns, with a blend of Jupiter, Saturn and Chiron working well and hopefully laying the framework for a more balanced and holistic approach to problems both global and personal. Uranus stations in December, and for some a five month period of reflection shifts into one of new development and action over coming months, but this is no big deal. If there is a big deal, it is the movements of Venus and Mars. Venus stations just after solstice in end Capricorn and then travels backwards to conjoin again and flirt with Pluto in January, not significant globally but relevant in individual charts. Mars is of most astrological note during December, moving into Libra on the 8th ready for a seven month stay, potentially a marriage made in hell not heaven as the individuality of Mars conflicts with the teamwork of Libra. And as Mars surges in early Libra and we get past solstice, the real business of 2013 is finalised. MAKE NO MISTAKE (I hate using capitals) the period immediately around New Year is extremely unpredictable, volatile and potentially dangerous, personally and globally. Big developments and announcements at that time will change the world dynamic. It’s a real count to ten and hold your breath time…
