Angelic Crystals

It's September, and I can't believe how fast this year has flow by. Soon we will enter the autumn and winter months when we need a 'sunny' energy to keep us focused and stimulate our minds. To this end, I was inspired by Archangel Jophiel and the sunny Citrine crystal to dedicate this article to this very subject. So many people nowadays seem to feel tired, stressed and exhausted. These symptoms seem to get worse through the darker days of winter. So to boost your energy and generate enthusiasm please read on.

Citrine Quartz

Quartz is the second most abundant mineral in the Earth's continental crust, after feldspar. It is made up of a continuous framework of SiO4 silicon–oxygen tetrahedra, with each oxygen being shared between two tetrahedra, giving an overall formula SiO2.

There are many different varieties of quartz, several of which are semi-precious gemstones. Especially in Europe and the Middle East, varieties of quartz have been since antiquity the most commonly used minerals in the making of jewelry.

Citrine is a variety of quartz whose color ranges from a pale yellow to brown. Natural citrines are very rare; most commercial citrines are heat-treated amethysts or smoky quartzes. It is nearly impossible to tell cut citrine from yellow topaz visibly, but they differ in hardness. Citrine has ferric impurities, and is rarely found naturally.

Brazil is the leading producer of citrine, with much of its production coming from the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The name is derived from Latin citrina which means "yellow" and is also the origin of the word "citron."

Citrine is a lustrous gem of a stone which holds the key to a balanced solar plexus chakra. A balanced solar plexus chakra, is shown by the following characteristics: personal power; spontaneity; positive mental attitudes; joy; hope; freedom from emotional hang-ups and inhibitions; a keen thirst for knowledge; mental clarity; wisdom and spiritual understanding. Crystal Placement:  Use citrine in layouts to balance the solar plexus chakra for enhanced mental energy and communication. Place a tumbled citrine on the solar plexus chakra and hold a tumbled citrine in each hand. Use clear quartz points (single terminated) beneath each foot (pointing towards the foot) and another above the crown chakra (pointing upwards). Leave the crystals in place for up to twenty minutes or until you feel you have to remove the crystals.

Cleansing:  Hold the stone under running water for several minutes and visualise imbalances flowing away. Then put in the sunlight to dry. Since most citrine on the market started its life as an amethyst, which was heat treated to turn its colour to gold, citrine jewellery as well as amethyst jewellery, should be kept away from prolonged exposure to strong sunlight or excessive heat. With this precaution, citrine should keep its colour.
