Life is not getting any easier.

Let’s face it, watching the news is depressing and stirs up negative emotions. Bills are getting bigger by the second and, it is fair to say, that many long-term optimists are slowly lowering their heads in defeat. With more and more people thinking unhappy thoughts and yearning for the good old days, when life was more carefree and easy, our energy levels and zest for life is slowly sinking into a big black hole of doom and gloom.

When we listen, watch or experience something negative it makes us feel sluggish and our body language and the words we use reflect a negative vibe. But life is about choices. You can choose to let negative situations affect your mood, but it really does not help you to manage challenging situations. Would you not rather choose to be the victor, rather than the victim, and just allow yourself to be happy? By switching off and filling your thoughts with something that makes you feel good, lifts your mood, your energy levels and your enthusiasm.

A premeditated decision that you will have a great day, the very second you wake in the morning. To listen to your favourite feel good music during the day. To turn off your worry monitor and pop a smile on your face. All of these things will not only make you feel better, it will align your inner self to how the universe wants you to feel. In addition, by deliberately making yourself feel good (and holding on to that feeling) you will upwardly spiral your happiness - it is that simple.

When you think about what will make you happy you know it will make you happy as you get a warm, comforting feeling deep inside. Whatever it is; whether it be more money, feeling fit, losing weight, confidence, further education, successful life at home and work; you will attract it much easier if you feel happy and positive.

Here are two statements:

“I wish I was happy”

“I am happy”

The first statement is wistful, melancholy and lacks enthusiasm and raw emotion. Wishing for something is not putting it firmly in your grasp. It is within the world of fantasy, along with Edward Cullen and Jack Sparrow - although that fantasy definitely raises my enthusiasm!

Now, the second statement is more forceful. It is direct, to the point and clearly describes how you want to feel. You can really add power, emotion and feeling - even anger - into the statement and by doing so, you are sending out your energy, in a positive way. You know, in your heart, what will really make you happy and the emotion driving you towards what you want is, in essence, happiness.

The next step is to bring your internal and external vibration in line with how you would feel if you realised your dreams. If you feel happy right now, this very second, you have attuned your emotions to receive good things.
By consistently feeling positive you will bag your desires much faster than if your emotions are erratic. Yes, life does have a tendency to hit us with some unwanted surprises, but by damping down your worry, anxiety, fear, stress and your need for control you will; cope better, feel better and deal with any problems, by calmly and easily finding solutions.

In order to feel good you need to be doing things in your life to kick-start your road to happiness. You can start now by doing one or more of the following every single day. Watch a laugh out loud comedy show or watch your favourite feel-good movie.Listen to positive, fun, upbeat music.Create something - draw, paint, write a poem….. Go for a walk in the park. Take a trip to your favourite beauty spot in the country, by the sea or simply potter around the garden.Share a joke or a funny YouTube clip with friends. Write down all the things that make you happy and you are grateful for in your life.Think about how you appreciate all the things you have now.Do some gentle exercise, such as walking or a leisurely bike ride. Join the local gym and create a workable schedule. Eat and drink healthily at least 3 days a week. Be spontaneously nice to someone. Have a complete “spring” clean clear out. Create and fully describe in detail your life’s goals and ambitions. Set aside 1 hour a day and take a time out with no interruptions. Listen, watch or read something motivating and/or inspiring. Burn uplifting scented candles, oils or incense.Open the windows and let in the fresh air. Have a 10-15 minute daytime power nap or meditation. Buy something you like - it does not need to be expensive.

By thinking about and doing the things you love on a regular basis your feel good emotions will snow ball. Just by injecting small positive changes into your day you will feel happier and attract more positive experiences into your life.

Happiness is an art. Find your inner artist and create a happier future right now.
